The Guitar Bag — “the only bag that wears guitar straps” — is an Italian brand of high-quality leather bags defined by an innovative concept: “Wear the Music.”
The project involved a complete redesign of its website and e-commerce platform, migrating from WooCommerce to Shopify to offer the client a simpler and more autonomous way to manage the online store (orders, invoices, catalog, and customer communications). From the very beginning, the shared goal was to make the client independent in daily operations while providing a modern website that would fully enhance the brand and its unique products.
From Restyling to User Experience: Platform and Functionality
To highlight The Guitar Bag’s unique concept, we redesigned the brand’s entire online presence. The e-commerce site was rebuilt on Shopify, adopting a custom theme aligned with the brand’s rock and fashion identity. The transition to Shopify was driven by the need for a more intuitive and user-friendly backend: the The Guitar Bag team can now autonomously manage the product catalog, order tracking, and invoice delivery without advanced technical skills.
All data was migrated, and key features were integrated to enrich the online shopping experience.
Product Customization
The core of the new website is an interactive configurator that guides users in creating their ideal Guitar Bag. From the “Customize Your Bag” page, users can choose their preferred combination step by step: first the model (three base sizes — Small, Medium, and Large — named “Patti,” “Mark,” and “Eric”), then the leather color (in four variants from the main collection: Red, Berry Honey — a warm tan shade — Black, or Silver), and finally the strap.
The system filters and displays only the straps compatible with the selected bag, offering dozens of interchangeable guitar straps to suit every taste and occasion. Each combination is displayed in real time, allowing users to see how their chosen strap transforms the bag’s style instantly.
Product Catalog and Wishlist
In addition to the configurator, the website features a complete catalog showcasing all bags (main collection and special editions) and available accessories. We handled the entire product data entry process, including images, multilingual descriptions, and variants, to ensure an accurate and easily navigable catalog.
A Wishlist feature was added, allowing registered users to save their favorite bags or straps in their accounts.
Thanks to integration with Shopify’s built-in tools, the client now has access to email marketing and automation features: personalized transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping updates, post-sale follow-ups) and newsletters help keep the The Guitar Bag community engaged.
Immersive and Interactive Experience
For a brand that bridges the physical (live music, craftsmanship) and digital worlds, it was essential to bring as much of the sensory experience online as possible. We implemented several innovative solutions:
Virtual Store Tour: By integrating a 360° virtual tour of the physical Rome showroom (in collaboration with a specialized service), users can explore the store interior directly from the website. This immersive experience showcases the rock-inspired atmosphere—from walls covered in vinyl records and guitars to the displayed bags—bringing the brand closer to its international community. It lets online visitors step “inside” The Guitar Bag universe, strengthening the emotional connection with the brand.
Photorealistic 3D Models: Four bag models were digitized in high-definition 3D, allowing users to rotate and zoom the product in 360°. The attention to detail—from the texture of the leather to the metal finishes—creates a “wow” effect, instantly conveying the product’s premium quality and enhancing its perceived value. This virtual showroom allows users to “feel” the bag even from a distance, which is crucial for high-end handcrafted products.
Optimized Payments, Shipping, and Support
The new e-commerce site supports secure payments via credit card, PayPal, and even interest-free installment options (through integrations such as Klarna). Shipping and return policies are clearly stated, with worldwide delivery and guaranteed returns—proof of the brand’s reliability.
Customer support has also been enhanced: a live chat and FAQ section help quickly address common questions, while the responsive layout ensures a seamless experience across smartphones, tablets, and desktops.
Conclusions
The redesign of The Guitar Bag’s website and e-commerce has created an immersive, engaging digital experience that matches the brand’s originality. The site now allows users to explore and customize truly unique products—from rock-inspired configurable bags to the virtual tour of the real store—transmitting online the same passion that Maria José, the founder, puts into her creations.
At the same time, the move to Shopify fulfilled the client’s need for operational autonomy: daily management is now simple and efficient, allowing the team to focus on business growth and community building.
